Dennis tried to hold it above his head but his Teriyaki Wing arms could not lift that much hardware. Dennis claims he will be back again but that's what the Japs said after Pearl Harbor too.
Daniel a.k.a. "Flip" Russell was the 2002 champ. He like all previous winners claims he will be the first 2 time PPP winner. It ain't happened yet and it won't next year. The odds on favorite will be his nemesis Dave. Flip likes the fact that the trophy has a golfer close to his size atop the golf cart.
They said it couldn't be done but little Flippy was the first 2 time PPP winner. Not only did he accomplish that but he did it back to back. He claims he will 3pppeat but as we said the previous 2 years. No way Jose. He also adds the following:
"On behalf of all the committee members, we thank everyone for your company this perfect weekend. Despite all the jabs and cut-downs, you all seemed to be a great group of guys. Deron and Ken great job making it such a tough finishing Sunday."
We used Flip as the model for the PPP trophy at ½ scale. Turns out we were prophetic in that his name is always on there. Damn it!
"I really don't expect to win again for awhile with as many good golfers that we have in the group. Hopefully we can golf again between now and next years PPP. As you can see it doesn't take much to win, just less mistakes than the rest, not great shots. Keep practicing."
Your 2002,2003,2004 champion,
3PPPeat (For real)
Daniel/Flip
We're so tired of writing about Daniel winning, we haven't wrote anything yet. But here are his comments:
"Thanks to the old and especially the new guys this year. I think it was the best PPP yet. Eddie you played awesome and deserved to win this year, you just happened to catch me on a weekend where I could finally make my share of putts (rare). Your drives were booming, mine sucked, the difference was your time on the beach and just missing a few putts. Could have really gone either way. Good job."
Viva La Mexico!!!! After two straight years of finishing second to Flip, Eddie breaks through with an impressive and decisive win.
"Deseo agradecer mi parte posteriora de la familia en México por creer en mí mientras que persued este sueño. Con este triunfo, puedo hacer bastante dinero para hacer furtivamente el resto de ti sobre la pared."
Translated to English...
"I wish to thank my family back in Mexico for believing in me as I persued this dream. With this win, I can make enough money to sneak the rest of you over the wall."
With his second consecutive victory, Eddie firmly squashed all rumors that his winning performance the previous year was a fluke and that he perferred the gruff touch of a man. Well - one outta two ain't bad.
Eddie's victory was dominant - much the same way as he prefers his handlers. We hope he enjoyed this victory because next year he'll be handicaped more strokes than a George Michael bathroom break.
Eddie proved once again that Mexicans can do more than just swim. What can we say? We handicapped him by adding 21 strokes to his score and he still emerged victorious. It should come as no surprise that he can perform well when stroked.
In addition to the victory, Eddie also amazed all in attendance by staying up past Midnight and (not a typo) DRINKING! Too bad that 80 on Saturday will get you stroked even more next year, though we know you like it!
In the first ever PPP Championship to come down to the 54th hole, Daniel pulls out the win with the combination of a clutch putt and a catastophic mental error by Pete. Can you say Mulligan?
Daniel's 5th PPP victory was certainly his closest and probably his last. Enjoy it while you can.
In what would have to be described as perhaps the most shocking PPP finish EVER, Ken L left Garden Valley with a little extra hardware and some extra threads for his closet.
